TEAM USA 2013 BLUE VS. LATIN AMERICA

LATIN AMERICA (0-4) – 70

 In their second matchup of the tournament, Latin America and USA 2013 Blue both started off hot with a flurry of fast-break baskets on both sides.  Eventually however as the game progressed, USA 2013 continued to show off their deep roster and began to pull away, building a 20 point lead at the half.  With consistent shooting and strong defensive hands, USA proved to be too much for the Latin American team and towards the close of the third quarter, Latin America’s team was reduced to four due to injury and resulted in a forfeit in the face of a near 30 point deficit 98-70.


TEAM USA 2013 RED VS. AUSTRALIA

AUSTRALIA (1-2)- 66

 USA 2013 Red beat Team Australia by a final score of 71-66. The game started slowly and after Chris Walker left the game early in the first quarter after taking an inadvertent elbow to the head from a member of Team Australia; Rodney Bullock led the USA Red squad with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams played great defense and really locked down in the second half. Australia took a brief lead early in the 3rd quarter behind Owen Odigie’s aggressive play. He finished with 14 points and 3 boards.

TEAM USA 2012 BLUE VS. TEAM EUROPE

TEAM EUROPE (1-3) – 96                       

With the Adidas Nation Final Four on the line USA 2012 Blue beat Europe in an overtime thriller.  Europe’s head coach Robert Jurkovic runs a high-tempo, fast paced offense that many teams have had trouble defending.  Europe’s offense is led by Roko Rogic, the most complete point guard in this tournament.  Rogic finished the game with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Europe’s big man Stipe Krstanovic hustled on every play with 20 points and 17 rebounds.  However, today that was not enough.  The USA Blue team kept up with Europe’s fast break offense and came in with some clutch free throws.  Winston Sheppard energized the stadium with a vicious dunk in overtime.  Sam Dekker led the team with 24 points and 1 rebound.


USA 2012 RED VS. ASIA

USA 2012 RED (4-0)- 82

ASIA (0-3)- 63

USA 2012 Red vs. Asia was competitive in the first half but USA 2012 Red blew the lead open in the 3rd quarter and never looked back. They ended up punishing Asia and winning 82-63. USA 2012 Red was led by Gabe York with 23 points. In his first hame back since injury, Kyle Anderson had a strong performance with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Asia was led by Steven Adams with 20 points and 24 rebounds as well as Yan Cao who added 18 points. They each play their next game on Sunday at 4 pm.

TEAM EUROPE VS. AUSTRALIA

AUSTRALIA (2-2)- 60

EUROPE (1-4) – 57

The Australia vs. Europe game was another exciting one that came right down to the final seconds.  Australia’s Owen Odigie led the team with 25 points and 9 rebounds.  Australia came up with the win by playing great defense.  The Final score was 60 – 57.  Although England did not come out with the victory, they played great throughout the tournament and they are a much better team than their score represents.

 

TEAM AFRICA VS. TEAM ASIA

AFRICA (2-2)- 90

ASIA (0-4)- 63

Team Africa finished pool play on a high note, beating Asia 90-63. Africa came out of the gates quick, jumping out to a 20-7 lead before the end of the first quarter. They pushed their lead to 20 midway through the second quarter and never looked back. Led by Emmanual Mudiay’s 16 point 3 rebound 4 assist performance, Team Africa disturbed the ball beautifully around the perimeter, usually resulting in easy looks around the bucket. For team Asia they were led by Delong Han’s 13 points. Steven Adams was strapped with foul trouble and it seemed to take him out of his rhythm early, he finished with 11 points and 5 boards.

TEAM USA 2013 BLUE (3-2) – 97

In a greatly competitive matchup with championship implications on the line USA Red 2013 defeats USA Blue 2013 106-97.  This game was high speed from start to finish.  There was pure athleticism on display from the opening tip as the Harrison twins got in the lane almost at will. They also had another high riser in junior standout Chris Walker. Aaron Harrison led all scorers with 25 pts, as Elijah Brown chipped in with a very impressive 18pts.  Elijah Brown often made big baskets that kept the momentum in their favor.  Nigel Williams-Goss and Isaac Hamilton led the charge for USA Blue 2013 with 17pts and 16 pts respectively.  Solomon Poole had a solid 16pts that included two huge dunks.  He was often the glue out there playing hard nose defense to match his offensive output.

Sunday night USA Red 2012 vs USA 2012 Blue were matched up to see who would play in the championships. This game showcased the nations top seniors and was the “must see” game of the week highlighting two of the tournaments leading scorers Andre Drummond and Gabe York. USA 2012 Red got off to an early lead led by Gabe York’s knock down shooting, Gabe finished with a game high 36 points. As the game progressed USA 2012 Blue used their size and pounded the ball down low. Cameron Ridley led the way with 22 points and 6 rebounds  and Andre Drummond finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds. USA 2012 Blue vs USA 2012 2103 Red will play in the adidas Nations Championship game broadcasted live on CBS Spoirts Network Monday at 6pm at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
