adidas Nations History

Commencing in 2007, adidas Nations is the leading grassroots basketball program designed to emphasize and focus on adidas’ core belief that real success in the game of basketball comes from playing as a team.

The world’s top players, 18 and under, will be selected to comprise eight regional teams from Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, China, Europe, Latin America and the United States. Teams partake in regional training and educational activities that aim to provide insight on what it takes to make it to the next level in their basketball careers.

The culmination of this program brings all eight teams together to train and ultimately compete in an international exhibition under the guidance and mentorship of highly esteemed NBA veterans, coaches and players or past and present.

About The adidas Nations Basketball Experience

The final element of adidas Nations is the adidas Basketball Experience. All eight regions will come together for intense international training and competition. Former NBA coaches will each be assigned as Head Coach to a region and current NBA players will supplement each team with support and guidance under the role of NBA Mentor. Each of the eight regional teams will consist of 12 – 15 of the top players from each respective region.

The Basketball Experience provides six days of expert training, drills, and games along with education and insight on off-court elements that are crucial to the success of a basketball career, such as nutrition, education, media training and community outreach.

In closing, each athlete will thrive under the expert eyes of former NBA players and coaches, API trainers (leaders on the Sports Science field), and current NBA stars.
